On November 15, 2024 the Fraternal Order of Eagles of Geauga Aerie #2261, in keeping with their motto “People Helping People” continued the tradition of “Giving with Gratitude”. The Aerie presented checks of $5,000 each to nine Fire Departments in Geauga County; Burton, Chardon, Chesterland, Hambden, Newbury, Middlefield, Munson, Montville and Thompson.

In addition, a $5,000 check was presented to the Chardon Police Department for their “Shop With A Cop” Program, which provides Christmas gifts for needy children in our community. Another donation was made to the Geauga CountyVeternas Food Pantry of $1000.00 along with a special donation from Consumer Tire Angel Wings of $6,563, which was presented by Bruce Kantz, David Kantz and DD Coley.

Consumer was recently sold and as Mrs. Coley stated they started the charity to help Veterans and seniors with car repairs, but decided to donate the remainder of the funds to help feed the Veterans. Mark Coley, Secretary for the Aerie said this is the best part of the Officers job, supporting our First Responders, Children and Veterans. Many of our officers sharing in his sentiment presented the checks to the selected organizations. The combination of all donations was $57,563.

While the New Boston Eagles Aerie 2271, located in New Boston, Ohio, celebrated their 87th birthday on October 8th, 2024, they were honored to donate $5000.00 to Honor Flights of Columbus, whose sole purpose is to safely transport America’s veterans to and from Washington, D.C. to visit those memorials dedicated to the honor of their sacrifices.  Pictured accepting the award is Ms. Jodie Augustine, who herself is a volunteer member of Honor Flights, with Eagle Trustees Doug Wireman, Howard Lawson, and Conductor Jerry Phillips participating.

Mentor Eagles #3605 gave $11,000 to the Andy Nowaki Memorial Fund, which provides scholarships to exceptional students to become first responders; $10,000 to the Deepwood Center that helps developmentally disabled children and adults in our area; $10,000 to Sub Zero Mission, which provides winter clothing, warming stations, and counseling to homeless Veterans in our area; and $7,000 (+$3,000 more earlier) to Share a Vision, which provides support and entertainment to families with autistic children.

Chillicothe, Ohio Aerie 600 recently hosted the Chillicothe/Ross County Chamber of Commerce Monthly Business after Business (BAB) which is a net-working event held by various members of the Chamber for the purpose of promoting their business or organization. Some 150-business people and their employees attended on the cold January night of 1-17-24 at which time Aerie 600 presented seven (7) five (5) thousand-dollar checks ($5,000.00) to various 501©3 charitable organizations which included the following: Ross County Special Olympics, Honor Flights, Chillicothe Art League, St Judes Children’s Research, First Capital Enterprises, Ross County Senior Citizens Center, and the Child Protection Center. Pictured making the presentation to Honor Flight are left to right Chamber President and CEO Mike Throne, Southern Ohio Liaison for Honor Flight Columbus Jodie Augustine, Aerie Treasurer Tom Duckworth, and Past Aerie President Jim Brown Jr. It was announced that Aerie 600 Treasurer Tom Duckworth would on the next Honor Flight out of Columbus, Ohio. As always, the Eagles are “People Helping People.”

On Friday, March 24, 2023, Butler Eagles #407 hosted Hamilton-Fairfield Little League (HFLL) President Travis Riley and Vice President Adam Blundell in their social room to accept a donation of $5,000 for their organization. The donation is to help kids that want to play baseball but may not have the funds to do so. The HFLL provides a great baseball atmosphere for children in the Hamilton and Fairfield communities. Through assistance from organizations like ours, they are able to continue to offer a quality program for our youth. The program looks to develop the Little League traits of Character, Courage, and Loyalty while teaching them discipline, teamwork, and physical wellness in a safe and fun environment. 100% of our sponsorship goes to building the league and supporting the players.
